HUMAX FOXSAT-HD
Standard installation is defined in the following terms: The property is of standard construction, not more than two stories in height (excluding any cellar or basement). There are no access difficulties and the installer is able to work from a standard extension ladder. The satellite dish can be mounted using standard wall brackets. Each satellite receiver can be reached by an external surface mounted downlead cable not more than 15 metres in length. The installation can be completed safely by one installer within approximately one hour for the first point, plus approx. 30 minutes for each additional point. This service is available for domestic premises only., Humax Foxsat HD Freesat set top box capable of viewing both High Definition and Standard Definition channels. Features include full colour, high resolution electronic program guide, digital text, Dolby digital audio output, HDMI socket, Upscaling up to 1080i or 720p and USB connection.

Pros: bbc iplayer is killer bonus feature

"I bought this unit being fed up of poor Freeview reception but have used it more often to watch BBC iPlayer direct on the big TV than for the main Freesat feature.
Simple to set up - HDMI cable, sat cable, ethernet, power up, put in postcode, done.
5.1 surround on HD Sat channels is excellent. iPlayer performance varies by time of day just as it does from a computer, but at quiet times the HD setting and surround are spot on.
This will see me through until Project Canvas/YouView get their act together."

"I had a Humax freeview PVR for several years so when I decided to move to freesat the choice of manufacturer was obvious. I purchased a Humax PVR for the main TV and this one for the other. It's small, works unobtrusively, gives a good picture, and generally does everything I need it to."

"I bought a HUMAX FOXSAT- HD to replace my Sky box which suffered because of an inconsistant power supply and was for ever being re-set - sometimes a fairly protracted procedure. The HUMAX does not suffer the same problems and even when the power goes off, it resets itself automatically which is great. Set up was very easy and we are sure that the picture is better.
Not the cheapest free-sat box but I was informed that it was the best, and that appears to be th case."

"After set up it works well. But having to find a code for a "secret menu" to set up and tune two LNBs with diseq switching is just daft. Surely this must be changed in future."

After a month cant find anything serious
We have an over-expensive B&O TV - 5yrs old. Cant get an analogue signal for Freeview, so this is an excellent alternative, though cant get HD on the B&O. It just does the business.
If we cd use the HD features we wd probably have gone for the HDD model."

"Connected the HUMAX FOXSAT HD to my T.V (Pioneer plasma) and powered up, the onscreen prompts led to a quick and easy setup. Just a couple of niggles,
1. The quality of the standard definition picture is no match for that of the pioneer freeview.
2. would have liked a Coaxial audio output (not enough optical inputs on my amp!)
However, the HD channels are pin sharp, all two of them !!!"

"Got this product for the kids room and very impressed with quality of picture and amount of channels and price from laskys. Easy to install as I already had sky plus just got some lead and connectors and plugged it into dish so saved meself 80 quid!"
