"Just sat down with the instruction book and easily managed to work out how to use the PVR.
Am absolutely delighted with the versatility of this machine as my old machine would only record terrestrial channels."

"Another superb piece of Humax kit.
Bought this to replace the previous model which is still going strong but memory was no longer sufficient.I also have the Freesat pvr.

Pros: freeview recording with ease, record two channels while watching a previous rec.
"This is my second Humax PVR. I found the last one an excellent product and I have found this one to be the same. The look and feel of the machine is similar, so it was very easy to start using the new one. There are lots of good features and so far it has lived up to all my expectations. I would recommend this to anyone who does not want to miss a TV program."

Pros: good features and price
Cons: poor instructions and remote
"This is a very good device BUT has a couple of things which could and should be remedied. Firstly, the instruction book is difficult to find your way round and has obviously been translated from another language by someone who is not a native English speaker. Secondly, the remote control is fiddly and the plastic sliding cover flimsy and annoying. Best to take it off altogether. Also, Buttons are small and markings not east to understand. There's plenty of room for improvement as this was a replacement for a Digifusion box, which was a delight to use, logical and had a very easy to understand manual."

Pros: Inexpensive, Compact, Durable, good signal
Cons: drops series links
"It was easy to set up. It has worked well and records well. The series links have been working and seemes to get a better reception than my old machine. Only problem is if you unplugg the machine it will drop all your series links. Also it seems sometimes not often but sometimes it will drop my series links for no reason.I have had it for about 3 months now and it has done this twice. Once was because my husband unpluggged it but the second time I have no idea why??? but it has been fine since.."

Pros: Inexpensive, Compact, easy to use, good quality
Cons: remote could be better
"In the 2nd year our first one ceased to work, however Laskys very promptly sent a replacement. We were pretty happy with the first one apart from the fact that after a couple of months the live pause and rewind had stopped working, our new PVR functions very well at the moment and picture quality is excellent.
The remote has an pointless sliding cover over the buttons for frequently used functions but have got used to it now.
Over the air updates seem to have sorted out irritating problems such as fan noise and slow EPG loading.
Overall would recommend.

Pros: the latest software means it works well
"Following June 2010's Over-The-Air software update for this machine... It is now no longer moody!
Now v.1.00.23 update has been received via the TV aerial all seems to be well.
The EPG is now stored on the hard drive and is therefore fully available within less than a minute (it took about a quarter of an hour to fill before).
The machine also seems to respond properly to the remote control.
So now it's "A Happy and Responsive PVR" I can recommend.
(The software updates are only transmitted occasionally and only for a few days at a time, so it can be a very long wait indeed)"

Cons: unresponsive at times
"Most of the time this is an excellent machine, other times it is not.
It is easy to set up and use; for some functions you need to look at the manual on the the CD on a computer, that's not so easy so I printed out the 80-odd pages! You only really need the manual for its more sophisticated functions.
The main drawbacks are that it quite often refuses to respond to the remote control (or the buttons on the machine) this is particularly annoying when you are fast-forwarding through a recording and then can't stop it! The other is that the Programme Guide takes 10-15 minutes to fill (it empties the guide every time you go on stand-by).
As it was rated as a Best Buy by Which - I wonder how infuriating the rest must be!
Overall it's good though.

Pros: Durable
Cons: sliding remote cover
"The product lives up to the good name of Humax and was extremely easy to install.
the only issue I have is with the remote which has a superfluous sliding cover -- why?
The price from Laskys was competitive and delivery was fast.

Pros: generally easy to use
Cons: epg load time at switch on, seven day epg only
"Generally its a very good PVR and has so far proved to be reliable and easy to use.
Sadly it isn't quite as good as my old Digiffusion which was an absolute delight (apart from its unreliablity at times). I would have bought another if I could but then I did get tired of replacing the HDD every couple of years.
Editing the recording time of individual programmes is a little long winded, there is a global extend feature but you don't want this on all the time as it compromises recordings that but up against each other.
Turning subtitles on and off could be easier.
The remote has a sliding cover over some buttons. I find I use these a lot so this is annoying and can't see the point.
The main complaint is the time (up to 5 minutes) it takes for the EPG to load everytime it is turned on. It's a shame the EPG isn't stored so it is always available and just updated when the unit is turned on. Its also a bit short at only seven days (the Digifussion had fourteen!).
Manufacturers should look at the old Digifussion PVRs, they could learn a lot about how to make a first class unit from a user point of view.

Pros: hdmi connector
Cons: only one aerial input, picture on occasion not as good as the topfield
"I swapped my Topfield for the Humax. I'm still getting used to the Humax GUI and have occasionally seemed to have not recorded programmes I thought I setup but on the whole very pleased.
I had originally swapped one Topfield for another Topfield but the newer one didn't last the year.
