"Very Pleased with purchase. Already had an old Sky dish so simply connected new freesat and up it ran following on-screen instruction but that only really consisted of inputting my post code then it set itself up. I've been using it now for about 3months and haven't had to read the instruction manual yet so well pleased. Just hoping more and more channels come soon!"

"First glance was delighted with it. I found the set up not that user-friendly. disappointed that the manual suggested an expert is needed for some of the set up.
Apart from that am pleased with it

Pros: Compact, customer services are extreemly eficcient, technical advice is prompt
Cons: no controls for adjusting brightness or contrast
"I purchased a freesat-HDR way back in early July 2009.
at first I was delighted with it .Only problem was that the remote did not want to work but contacting the recorded expert is was told how to solve the problem .However as time passed recordings were dark & I thought it was user error being unable to find any way of adjusting brightness or contrast.
However after contacting the recorded expert I was told that the only way would be by using the controls on the TV set. This is not acceptable as it makes all pictures on the TV extremely light

Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: poor remote control.
"Had problems with remote control. Some of the buttons are very small and it is not clear exactly what each one does.
The product handbook needs to be re-written to be more understandable. Many new users will have experience of Sky+ and will find the system not as user friendly.

Pros: great picture, lot cheaper than sky
Cons: menus slow to navigate, record function not as easy as sky+
"Bought this to replace my Sky+HD subscription (seemed to have less and less channels and paying more and more!)
Picture quality better than Sky, particularly on HD and full dolby digital sound (for some reason, our Sky package never had the dolby??)
Pretty easy to use and does everything and more than the Sky+ did, but some menus are a bit slow.
Otherwise, a gret bit of kit, and definitely recommended.

Pros: Inexpensive, Compact
"I had some problems with the initial setup as it would'nt accept any postcode entered even my friends who also has this product. Did a manual tune then tried again and it accepted the postcode. Has been plain sailing since then with loads of really useful features that are easy to find and use. Having a freesat sport chanel or two would improve it. However, it is a joy to use and everyone should have one."

"Replacement for Sky + and this is easy to use and has similar features. Like you can start recording a programme part way through.
Good to see they made an effort on the user interface.
Like -P and P+ is a page up and down through the program list.
The fast-forward is actually better than Sky in that you can can go up to 64x.
Nice designed unit and is compact.
I see people complain it take 20 seconds to 'boot' when you switch it on. I see this as a minor point.
I like the idea of using Ethernet port for iPlayer."

Pros: hd is brilliant
Cons: initial cost is fairy expensive
"i bought this after my thomson freeview box kept crashing & i was paying £12.99 per month for top up tv.the extra chanels on freesat easily make up for those lost from top up tv.i paid £210 from Lasky's for the box & £80 for a new dish & installation by a local aerial installer.it will therefore pay for itself in less than 2 years & we have the added bonus of hd on some of the itv & bbc programmes."

Pros: picture quality
Cons: just a tad slow on boot up
"Purchased this for my father in law who wanted me to use it so that I could show him (he is over 70) but no need to worry. it's a doddle to use. I already have a sky+ box(but not subscribed to sky so can't record) but this is fantastic knocks spots of the sky for quietness does not constantly keep whirring up the hard drive. I fitted a new quad lnb and plugged the unit in and was up and running in about ten minutes including the channel search. Recording is a dream , and so is finding the recording after! also starting to watch a recording before the programme has finished blew my mind away!Excellent product."

Pros: intelligent, sophisticated
Cons: Expensive, considerable learning curve
"the humax is a powerful and flexible hd pvr, it can be involving to set up properly ( poor manual ) but it's worth some effort as it's an extremely useful pvr when it's all done.
it is more complicated than the astonishingly simple sky plus system it has replaced and can have you scratching your head on occasions, stick with it and you'll be rewarded with a more rounded performance...downsides...considerable initial outlay.. lack of freesat hd content..inability to record from the buffer..large clumsy remote

Pros: Compact, Durable
Cons: slow to boot
"First, hats off to Laskys! So far best company I've dealt with!
Best price by a considerable margin and superb service, iincluding a returns service second to non, which I discovered when I found that the digital audio output of the machine was duff.
I had to have a twin LNB fitted to my ancient dish (I have never had Sky, it's a second hand unit from a customer), with it's consequent 2nd cable but it only cost £90 and my friendly aerial man actually fitted a new dish!
The PVR itself has excellent picture quality but the software controlling the file management (probably a form of open - source stuff can be very confusing at first unlike the Freeview 9300t version which is slightly more intuitive.
If broadcasters include the appropriate signals for time start/end and aspect ratio, recordings went well but if they don't be prepared for manual adjustment. Still this is NOT Humax's fault.
Now I am used to it and the remote unit I hesitate to criticise it as it provides everything I want."
