Pros: Inexpensive, Durable
"I received the PANASONIC DMR-EX83EB-K DVD Hard Drive Recorder on 21.12.11.Once I had learned how it works, I found it to be very good, especially having the hard drive. Now I can record and play back, and even copy progrannes from Sky.
Thank you."

"Having had problems with LG hard drive recorder....binned it for this product. Excellent value and much easier to negotiate around EPG, recording and copying HDD to DVD. Wished I had stayed with Panasonic and will do in the future."

Pros: easy to use, value for money
"Have used a similar Panasonic HDD/DVD before, this is for another room and like this one, it's easy to use and does what it says on the tin. The instruction booklet could be laid out better but once you get used to it, it's simple, easy and reliable to use. There are many options to set it up to suit your own use, which would rectify some of the negative comments others have put in the review. Improvements can always be made but for us, it's value for money and would always buy Panasonic over others."
"Once I have managed to wade through all the instructions I might give this machine an even higher rating. There must be a way to make these instruction books more user friendly. But,top marks to the recorder which does everything I want it to do really well and works in perfect harmony with the Panasonic TV we bought just a few weeks before."

Cons: Expensive, unreliable, complicated
"I purchased this Panasonic some time ago. Within a short time it was returned to have shut down issues resolved. Apparently, these were fixed but now out of warranty, they still occur.
The unit takes ages to switch on and the EPG is a nightmare. Thankfully the unwanted adverts for the Radio Times have now disappeared, but the guide screen seems to be reserved for further advertising, making the EPG screen small and with limited information.
I would probably never buy Panasonic again."

Pros: quality picture
Cons: epg, needs twin tuner, badly thought out menu options
"I didn't think the experience with the EPG would put me off so much. I was buying it to record to disc, and this it does perfectly well, and the picture is good. But I find it so infuriating to naviagte around TV channels I end up watching them on the Humax instead, even though it gives a worse picture. My advice- Don't buy this product until Panasonic fix their EPG."

Cons: not easy to use
"I wanted a digital recorder and went for the Panasonic name on a recommendation. Unfortunately, the ease of making recordings was not good and having recorded, the ease of checking/finding the recording was poor. (I have compared this with the ease of use of a Humax PVR9300-T, which is a doddle). I was not keen on the adverts taking up so much space in the guide."

Pros: Inexpensive, good quality
"Already have a Panasonic TV, old video / DVD recorder was on the blink and read reviews on the PANASONIC DMR-EX83EB-K. Have made this purchase and am delighted with the performance. have read the negative reports about the TV Guide, but do not find a problem with it. Very easy to scroll to the program you wish to record or view. Dont be put off with other reviews, this is an excellent buy."

Pros: Inexpensive
"A very neat piece of kit. It will do a lot of what we wanted it to do and has now, combined with a cinema system, become our hi-fi. It has taken a couple of weeks to get the hang of how to do stuff on it and the instruction manual is huge. But once you get to grips with it, it is reasonably easy to use. We bought this instead of having sky as it will pretty much do what a SKY+ box wil do, so it will pay for itself in a few months."

Pros: Inexpensive, Compact, excellent editing features
Cons: doesn't record on dvd-r dl in widescreen
"So far excellent performance in almost all areas, like editing, recording, playback. My only gripe is that is doesn't record on DVD-R DL discs in widescreen which is not made clear until you read the manual, and DVD+R DL discs are much harder to find at a reasonable cost."

Pros: Inexpensive, Compact
"Bought this DVD player just one month ago. It proved very simple to set up, much easier than our Sony which lasted just over two years. With this in mind we decided to take out an extended 5yr.waranty.A few things that we like is the "Skip" functon to take us nicely through the ads. The grouping of the the series recordings.and the ease to add sub titles."

Pros: Inexpensive
"Having not been able to record for sometime due to an old VCR and digital switchover a year ago, it has been amazing to step into the world of digital recording! This is a well designed product, great price at Laskys, and does what it says. Brilliant to be able to watch a playback whilst recording something else, and whole host of other functions. Despite the rather daunting instruction manual, it is actually quite simple to set up and use. I'm sure I am not yet using all it's functions, but those I have used have been very straightforward. I shall be recommending this to my aged parents - they will find it much easier than their old VCR."

Pros: Inexpensive, Compact
Cons: miss the clock on standby.
"My other Panasonic DVD HDD went on the blink 160gb so opted for the 250gb Recorder. This machine similar to the old one but very slow on start up. Recording quality excellent. Miss the clock when switched on standby. The advert on the Guide takes up to much space could do with a bigger screen for the Guide. Another tuner would make a difference. Price and delivery as Lasky's promised. The Recorder is good price and quality against the competition. Simple to use."
